Vinted Members Voice Frustration About Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes without notifying every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to examine their items and update the measurements by hand if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Updates
Before the change, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, located in England, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
