The British government is set to progress with using the full worth of seized Russian assets to aid Ukraine's military campaign, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a collective announcement, the heads of state of the United Kingdom, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany stated that this unified step would escalate tension on Russian President Vladimir Putin and urge Moscow to participate in talks.

They clarified that the decision would be executed in close cooperation with the US.

British restrictions have blocked more than £25bn of Russian resources since the Russian government launched its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. Yet, up to this point, money provided to Ukraine using Russian funds had only been sourced from gains and dividends generated on them.

Sir Keir informed Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, the French Republic, and Germany were aligned in their desire to advance efforts toward using the full value of the seized Russian sovereign holdings to end the war.

He stated that further measures over the next period would apply more pressure on the Russian government.

This announcement follows European Union representatives gathered in the Danish capital previously to debate employing immobilized Russian assets for a 140-billion-euro credit to Ukraine.

Recently, President Donald Trump called on Group of Seven partners to take or otherwise use seized Russia's assets, according to media sources.

The value of immobilized Russian funds in the European Union is assessed to be approximately €211bn.

Moscow launched extensive bombardments throughout Ukraine on recently, causing blackouts in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv, and eight other regions.

Several persons were fatally injured and no fewer than 20 people were wounded in the strike, authorities in Ukraine said.

In a update on an online platform after the attack, Zelensky commented that the strategic strike targeted public and utility structures.

"What is required is not just talk but decisive action - from the United States, EU, and the Group of Seven - in providing anti-aircraft weapons and enforcing restrictions," he wrote.

"Each restrictive measure diminishes Moscow's military apparatus," Zelensky declared, in a separate post.

Additionally that day, Zelensky told media outlets he would encourage Sir Keir to join the PURL programme, under which partner nations acquire military equipment from the United States to provide to Ukraine.

While commending the UK's firm backing for the Ukrainian government, he remarked it should demonstrate clearly that it would participate in the program, as well as enforce further restrictions on Moscow.
