“It was regrettable. It was kind of an exchange with our fans out in front of us,” Jones explained during a Tuesday interview. “Present was a swarm of Dallas supporters—not Jets fans, Cowboys fans. The whole venue was filled with excitement for the Cowboys.”
He further clarified that the gesture was completely unintentional, occurring amid the excitement following the team’s last score. “I simply showed the incorrect digit,” he noted. “The action was accidentally performed. I’m not kidding. Should you call it accidental, you can. However, it got resolved rapidly.”
